EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy designed to ease distress related to traumatic memories. During sessions, our therapists help a client briefly focus on a traumatic memory while incorporating eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation. This approach assists the brain in reprocessing the memory in a less distressing way, with the goal of reducing its impact over time.
Benefits of EMDR include relief from PTSD symptoms, decreased emotional distress, improved self-esteem, and better coping mechanisms for past traumas. Many of our clients find that EMDR enhances their overall mental well-being and quality of life.
Welcome to our office where everyone is invited, but commitment to doing the work and experiencing growth is key. We take a straightforward approach, focusing on faith-based wellness for mind, body, and spirit. If you're ready to be heard and work on your goals—both short-term and long-term—this is the place for you.
"I came to Skip several years ago with a history of sexual trauma. He suggested EMDR and it changed my life. After years of talk therapy I found something that actually worked and freed me from the pain and anxiety that I used to experience. I highly recommend EMDR and wholeheartedly endorse Dr. Ritter."
